In 2025, WellNest Community-Based Organization (CBO) began its journey with a clear mission—to empower vulnerable communities and restore dignity where it is most needed. Operating across Nairobi, Western Kenya, and Nyanza, the organization focused on practical, community-driven solutions that touch lives in meaningful ways.
Despite limited resources, WellNest made significant strides by leveraging strong community networks, volunteer support, and committed leadership. The result was a year marked not just by activity—but by real impact.
Reaching Communities Where It Matters Most
Throughout the year, WellNest supported over 200 individuals through psychosocial counseling, helping adolescents, young women, and families navigate challenges such as trauma, stress, and uncertainty. At the same time, survivors of gender-based violence received critical support through counseling, referrals, and follow-up care—ensuring they were not alone in their recovery journey.
Open conversations around Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) also played a key role. By engaging both young people and parents, WellNest helped improve awareness, strengthen communication, and empower individuals to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.
Supporting Livelihoods and Food Security
Understanding that wellbeing is deeply connected to economic stability, WellNest implemented initiatives that addressed both nutrition and income. Women and young mothers were supported to establish kitchen gardens, while others benefited from food assistance during crisis periods.
In addition, livelihood programs such as small-scale farming and skills-based activities empowered participants to earn income, support their families, and build resilience for the future.
Investing in Education and Dignity
Education remained a priority, with the distribution of school bags to vulnerable learners helping restore confidence, improve attendance, and support children in staying in school. These small but impactful interventions continue to shape brighter futures for many young people.
A Strong Foundation for the Future
Beyond program implementation, 2025 was also a year of building strong systems. WellNest established governance structures, developed key policies, and strengthened its operational capacity—laying the groundwork for sustainable growth.
Looking Ahead
As WellNest CBO moves into 2026, the focus is on expanding reach, strengthening partnerships, and deepening impact across communities. The lessons learned in this foundational year will guide a more inclusive, responsive, and scalable approach moving forward.
